JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Research & Permit Expediter will be responsible for submitting and handling over-the-counter building plan reviews within various municipalities within the local area or online submittals, complete assigned project research, and support with any municipal logistics and works as a liaison between municipality and Architect team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain Building Permit forms, fees, and research when requested, obtain review times for each jurisdiction and track all projects submitted to the jurisdiction with tracking tools for client and project team updates. Provide support and/or complete assigned Research Reports or Entitlement Administrative Assistance.
  • Follow up with jurisdictions to obtain status of approval and/or corrections as scheduled.
  • Review and/or organizes submittal sets to include all required documents prior to submittal or re-submittal to jurisdiction.
  • Complete and submit all jurisdictional permit applications.
  • Project coordination among various internal departments and/or subcontractor/consultant
  • Request checks prior to submittals/plan reviews and
  • accurately maintain and update project receipts and correspondence

Skills and Experience:

  • Permitting experience is desired, but not required.
  • The ability to read a set of architectural and construction documents is highly desired.
  • Experience with commercial retail building development highly desired.
  • Construction experience and knowledge, real estate development or urban planning is desirable.
  • Strong follow-up skills are imperative. Organization is a must and the ability to have a follow-up system key.
  • Ability to read a set of architectural construction drawings is required.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills, with ability to think critically and creatively to resolve any unforeseen complications with municipal staff.
  • Self-motivated individual with an even-keel demeanor
  • Must be reliable, consistent and have a dependable transportation with insurance.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and focused attention to detail.
  • Must possess a sense of urgency and excellent time management abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to various jurisdictional staff on technical details a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment and change directions quickly when required.
  • Understanding of jurisdiction & entitlement process highly desired
  • Strong ability to solve problems with minimal direction.
