Construction Risk Analyst

Location: Baltimore, MD

Job Description
As a Project Risk Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our construction project teams and Risk Manager by maintaining and analyzing project risk registers. Your keen eye for detail and proficiency in risk management techniques will ensure that potential project risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated effectively. In every phase of a construction project—from design and planning to execution—uncertainties, particularly geotechnical, will influence decisions. The effect of these uncertainties on project objectives is known as risk, which can impact function, construction productivity, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Register Maintenance: Maintain and update project risk registers, ensuring all identified risks are logged, assessed, and tracked.
  • Reporting: Generate and run detailed reports from the risk register, focusing on mitigation actions, top risks, and other critical metrics to support decision-making.
  • Review and Feedback: Review contractor risk registers, providing insightful comments and recommendations to ensure comprehensive risk management.
  • Risk Mitigation: Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Communication: Clearly communicate risk findings and mitigation strategies to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and understanding across all project levels.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest risk management best practices and techniques, incorporating them into our processes to enhance overall project outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management or a related field, with a focus on construction projects. Candidates with this level of experience and advanced Excel proficiency are eligible for top-of-range salaries.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency with MS Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis tools, with top pay for those demonstrating high-level skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with construction activities related to tunnels, bridges, rail, or stations is highly desirable.
  • Financial Background: A solid understanding of financial principles and experience in financial analysis related to construction projects.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical and financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks
