Job DescriptionJob Description

The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of purchasing goods and services that are essential to the operation of the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority as well as assisting with all daily accounting processes.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Abide by the State of Virginia procurement laws (VPPA) as well as the state’s policies and procedures (APSPM)
  • Prepare Request for Proposals
  • Advertise and bid products and services
  • Evaluate bid documents and vendors
  • Negotiate contracts
  • Maintain procurement files with ongoing contract management
  • Establish strong vendor relationships
  • Prepare and file reimbursement requests to state/other agencies
  • Assist with the overall daily accounting process including general ledger, equipment/fixed asset records, accounts payable, inmate trust fund and monthly reimbursements.

Associates Degree with a concentration in Business required; Bachelor Degree or work related experience preferred. Strong computer skills required to include Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, and a professional appearance and demeanor required. Ability to work independently. Valid Virginia driver's license required.
