MNS Engineers, Inc. (MNS) is a fast growing, profitable multi-service infrastructure consulting firm offering construction management, civil engineering, and surveying services throughout California. MNS is jointly owned by the management team and Long Point Capital who will work together to accelerate the growth of the Company both organically and through acquisition. With nine (9) offices throughout California, the Company has provided services to the transportation, water resources, government services, and federal markets for nearly 60 years, and with the influx of capital via their sponsor, are well positioned to build on and exceed their previous growth trajectory in the future.
Position is remote, with occasional travel required (see travel time section below). Candidates must reside in California and preferred within the greater Central Coast region due to current geography of Government Services clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Requirements:- Primary contact with clients and approving agencies.
- Will serve as the Designer of Record (DOR) for state and federal projects as well as be the MNS Project Manager coordinating with client and MNS team.
- Will act on behalf of clients as their Project Manager when tasked to do so and coordinate with client contractors and management of CIP project construction.
- Manages professional and technical staff and contract administration.
- Will provide engineering design, analysis, and direction to staff as necessary to complete a variety of Capital Improvement Project (CIP) designs, including but not limited to road way design and maintenance, concrete improvement, ADA compliant modifications to public right of way, storm drain improvements, grading and drainage plans, erosion and sediment control, slope repair plans, etc.
- Will work with staff as necessary to provide project plan set and specification design, direction, coordination, management, quality control, and engineering stamp.
- Will prepare and/or review construction cost estimates and will be familiar with construction cost pricing resources to prepare accurate estimates reflecting current and local construction markets.
- Will lead coordination with multidisciplinary design teams to create a complete product package meeting project and client goals.
- Will oversee and perform reviews RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, materials testing and various contractor reports to confirm compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards and provide engineer’s stamp as necessary.
- Reviews and/or prepares Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Storm Water Control Plans (SWCP), Erosion & Sediment Control Plans (E&SCP), and stormwater reports for compliance with municipal codes, ordinances, and state permit requirements.
- Will coordinate with staff to provide oversight and direction of client MS4 permits.
- Prepare and present Capital Improvement Project (CIP) staff reports, contracts, amendments, memorandums and other documents required for the proper permitting, designing, bidding, and awarding of CIP projects following various municipality procedures.
- Will be in charge of managing project budgets and client invoicing.
- Assists with recruitment and performance evaluations.
Minimum Education, Licensure, or Certification
- BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or industry related field
- California registered Professional Engineer (PE) required.
- Certified Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP) and Qualified Stormwater Designer (QSD)
Minimum Experience
- 10-15 years design or construction experience in municipal work (public or private)
Other Required Skills
- Understanding of civil engineering concepts and applications.
- Understanding of municipal and federal processes for CIP.
- Familiarity with engineering tools used by staff.
- Proficient with Word and Excel applications as well as Adobe PDF and/or Blubeam applications.
- Interacts well with other staff.
- Able to work well with other people, contractors, agency personnel, and the public.
- Able to evaluate project issues and changes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organized and structured to manage multiple projects, clients, staff and schedules concurrently to meet and exceed client expectations.
Travel Time
- Estimated 25% requirement to travel. Will be needed to attend field meetings such as site visits as well as attend design review meetings or design RFI field meetings, client meetings and as necessary City Council or Planning Commission meetings.
