INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Key areas of responsibility (Strategic overview)

The Field Service Technician provides technical service and support on polyurethane processing equipment to customers in the field, as well as internally within the company. As our representative to the customer, the Field Service Technician must be friendly and professional, playing a critical role in providing customer satisfaction and generating additional sales opportunities.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Operational/tactical)

·         Installation, start-up, and repair of Polyurethane Processing Equipment at the customer location

·         Performs preventive maintenance on the same equipment.

·         Provides system training to customers on maintenance, operation, and programming as required.

·         Completes all job-related paperwork and submits to the Service Administrator/Supervisor on a weekly basis. This includes expense reports and service reports.

·         Maintains daily communication with supervisor/Service Administrator and/or customer service reps and provides appropriate updates on job-related progress and schedule.

·         Make effective use of downtime during periods in the office. This may include customer phone support and other internal projects.

·         Identify improvements/bugs in equipment design and software and report appropriately to engineering/customer service.

·         Always maintains a clean and professional attitude and appearance.

·         Establish and maintain effective relationships within the organization companywide to develop a dedicated support network.

·         Accomplish tasks as directed by management and manage own time thoughtfully and efficiently.

·         TRAVEL:  Represents 50% to 70% of total time.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Experience/Technical Skills/Education)

·         Fundamental Mechanical/Electrical Technical Expertise.

·         Experience with plumbing or robotics a plus.

·         Background in hydraulics and controls including a working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs.

·         Effective communication and computer skills.

·         Experience in the Urethane Industry not required but beneficial.

·         Must be able to read and understand both mechanical and electrical schematics.

·         Strong technical writing and communication skills.

·         Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work alone with little or no technical support.

·         2+ years of working experience with troubleshooting Industrial Equipment.

·         Experience in an industrial environment.

FUNCTIONAL SKILL SETS

·         Willingness to travel 50% to 70% of the time.

·         Ability to lift and carry heavy parts.

·         Use of both hands and good dexterity.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS (Leadership, Management, Communication Skills)

·         Good people skills, able to communicate with customers and co-workers.

·         Excellent communication skills and ability to explain step by step instructions.

·         Highly organized and able to present ideas in a structured manner.

EXPERIENCE IN THE URETHANE INDUSTRY A PLUS.
