We are seeking a Field Service Technician for a direct hire opportunity in the Sioux City, IA/ Yankton, SD area. Our client is a Midwest-based supplier and servicer of forklift machines and parts. They provide a multi-line parts department for several different product lines. The Field Service Technician will travel to customer locations and repair their material handling equipment, MEWPs, and rail car movers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The skilled technician will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues in various material handling equipment, including forklifts and rail car movers. The role involves disassembling, repairing, and reassembling key components, collaborating with the parts department, and maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge. The tech will utilize a wide range of tools, operate with minimal supervision, manage your own parts inventory, and adhere to safety protocols. Additionally, they require the completion of required paperwork, providing exceptional customer service, and, effectively managing workload, and adapting to changing job responsibilities as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems and/or charging systems.
  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and able to quickly learn our software to complete work orders.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer services skills
  • Present a professional image in appearance and preparation
  • High school education.
  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework preferred.
  • 3+ years direct technician experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75lbs frequently.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, crawl/crouch and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
