Job DescriptionJob Description

Propulsion Controls Engineering has a current opening for a Payroll Administrator with a minimum of three years experience, at our San Diego, CA location. PCE is a full service electro-mechanical repair and diesel repair contractor.

Job Summary:

Compile and maintain employee time and attendance and related payroll data. Review and compute time and attendance data for bi-weekly payroll processing.

Essential Functions:

      • Verify and audit daily time & attendance, hours worked, pay adjustments and post accordingly into processing system.
      • Correct missing punches.
      • Monitor and update missed meal period data.
      • Code direct labor hours into ERP system.
      • Enter new temporary labor information in time and attendance system and issue timecards.
      • Communicate with cross functional supervisors/managers on time and attendance entry errors and/or corrections.
      • Enter wage garnishments or employee liens into payroll system and respond to agencies accordingly.
      • Prepares bi-weekly payroll processing for auditing prior to transmittal.
      • Perform bi-weekly payroll processing.
      • Run applicable payroll processing reports.
      • Prepares and processes manual payroll checks as needed or required.
      • Review timecards and other information to detect and reconcile discrepancies.
      • Prepare and balance/reconcile period-end, month and year end payroll.
      • Ensure employee data is accurate for payroll processing.
      • May assist in other areas of accounting, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger posting and reconciliation.
      • May provide training on time & attendance usage.
      • Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
      • Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

      • High School diploma or GED certificate or equivalent education and experience
      • 3 plus years’ experience payroll processing preferred.

Experience and Knowledge:

      • Ability to work at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
      • Ability and tolerance to meet due dates and deadlines and/or time constraints.
      • Knowledge of and ability to utilize enterprise resource planning (“ERP”) software.
      • Knowledge of and experience with ADP.
      • Knowledge of accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processes a plus.
      • Knowledge of basic general ledger and account reconciliation preferred.
      • Knowledge of and ability to utilize Microsoft office applications.
      • Ability to resolve issues and perform mathematical calculations.
      • Knowledge of payroll processing and regulatory requirements.
