Position and Responsibilities

 

The Accounting Manager is accountable for all the accounting operations of the company including internal purchasing. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of comprehensive accounting records and an adequate set of controls and an annual budget designed to mitigate risk and report on the achievement of the company’s financial goals.

 

The Accounting Manager will assure accuracy of reporting to comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and provide company leadership with at least monthly reporting that addresses cash planning and management to support future growth of the company.

The position is responsible for managing all accounting functions associated with our business(s) including accounting personnel. The Accounting Manager is an integral part of the leadership team and must gain an understanding of our core business competencies, our position in the marketplace, and help manage our relationship with vendors and business partners. Our company is highly focused on client and vendor relationships. The Accounting Manager must instill a professional service-minded approach in all aspects of accounting while working cross-functionally with the leadership team to support sales, operations, and IT (Information Technology) services. Primary responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following areas:

 

Financial Activities

·        Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements including weekly financials

·        AP, AR, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, budgets, business insurance, and oversee all internal purchasing

 

Transaction Level Accountability

·        Must be able to translate company financial information into business language so all levels of company management can understand it

·        Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

·        Ensure account receivable are collected on a timely basis

·        Ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely

·        Ensure bank reconciliations and credit card statements are completed on a timely basis

·        Ensure debt payments are made promptly

·        Provide weekly reporting of credit online availability with banks and vendors

·        Maintain the chart of accounts

·        Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

·        Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions and processing

·        Develops internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures

·        Coordinates budgeting, procurement, cash management

·        Establishes and maintains financial controls in the accounting department.

·        Provides full oversight and supervision of the accounting and purchasing departments including task assignment to staff members

·        Prepares (with staff assistance) and presents financial reports of the company that clearly show the operating condition of the company

·        Works with the outside accounting firm in preparation of the accounting information for the reviewed financials with footnotes and the company(s) tax returns

 

Reporting Requirements

·        Issue timely and complete financial statements, weekly, and monthly

·        Manage the production of the annual budgets and forecasts

·        Calculate variances from budget and report significant

·        Issues to senior management along with recommendations for corrections to the issue

·        Provide cash flow planning reports and recommended use of funds for senior management

·        Creates budgets and forecasts as well as reporting of variances

·        Creates reports that help all levels of the company management to understand the financial condition of the company

 

 Managing all Accounting Personnel

·        Responsible for training, scheduling of all accounting personnel

·        Evaluating and ensuring all accounting personnel are achieving their goals and assignments

·        Hiring of new Accounting Personnel

·        Be the leader in the office of overall employees that regularly interact with accounting personnel including but not limited to Sales Support, Purchasing, and Sales, whose managers are remote

·        Works closely with Project Managers, Sales Support Manager, Service Manager, Operations and Warehouse Manager.
