Reports To: President

Job Summary:  Responsible for developing the communication and marketing strategies that enhance Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools brand with key constituencies.

Start Date:  August 1, 2024 (Position open until filled. Review of candidates will begin immediately.)

Duties and Responsibilities:  Promotes the mission of the Catholic faith and Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools.  Responsible for news media relations, publications and online media.  Oversees the development and implementation of BHCS marketing and communication efforts including the BHCS website, social media and annual marketing plan.  Oversee the writing, design and production of print and digital publications such as alumni magazine and e-newsletters.  Oversees the quality and consistency of all external communications, including advertising, event publicity, and news.  Provides video work for enrollment, advancement and marketing purposes.  Maintain consistency with brand identity, digital communications, web design and communications.  Supports the Director of Enrollment with publication of recruitment materials, messages, ESA notices and tuition information.  Supports the Office of Advancement with fundraising materials and promotional publications as well as select fundraising efforts.  All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Three years minimum of marketing, public relations and/or media relations experience preferred. Experience in marketing editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Canva preferred.
  • Proven experience including budgetary responsibilities.  All applicants will be considered.

General Introduction:  The Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools is a unique system of Catholic schools in Sioux City, Iowa.  In total, the schools encompass eight locations throughout the city which include three PK-8th grade schools, one PK-5th grade school, one 9-12th grade school and an administration building.  The Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools relate the total student to God through an excellent education leading toward a lifetime of service.  The four pillars of the institution are Faith, Family, Knowledge and Service.

Duties will require travel and attendance at evening and/or weekend events/meetings.  Although work is performed primarily under inside environmental conditions, the required travel may result in temporary exposure to outside environmental conditions.  Regular driving and valid driver's license are required.  Duties require a wide range of intellectual and practical problem-solving skills and comprehension of complex concepts.
