Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Department:Finance/Accounting

Employment Type: Contractor (Part-time)

Position Summary:

The Director of Finance is a key executive role responsible for managing the financial health of the organization. This position oversees all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis activities, ensuring the company’s financial strategies align with its goals. The Director of Finance will provide strategic financial guidance, lead the finance and accounting team, and collaborate with other executives to drive business growth and profitability.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy.

  • Lead long-term financial planning and annual budgeting processes.

  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

  • Provide financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers.

2. Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Manage all aspects of the company's financial and accounting operations, including accounting/bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP or other relevant standards.

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders in accordance with regulatory and company standards.

  • Monitor and manage cash flow, banking, financing activities and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Direct and coordinate the annual budget process, including departmental budgets.

  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, and report variances.

  • Implement robust forecasting models to predict future financial performance.

4. Risk Management and Compliance:

  •  Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring the company's assets are protected.

  • Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard financial assets.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations. 

  • Manage the company’s risk management policies and procedures.

  • Oversee internal and external audits and ensure the integrity of financial data.

5. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure appropriate skills and knowledge are developed within the team to meet evolving business needs.

  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the finance staff.

6. Strategic Business Partnering:

  • Work closely with the CEO and executive team to influence decision-making and support strategic initiatives.

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth.

  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize financial performance, efficiency and support business operations.

7. Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant frameworks.

  • Coordinate external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

8. Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, the board of directors, and other stakeholders.

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, and financial regulations.

  • Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, forecasting and reporting.

  • Excellent leadership, team management and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g.Quickbooks, ERP systems, financial modeling tools).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Investment, Financial Tech and/or Entertainment industry a plus

  • Proven track record of driving financial performance in a high-growth environment

  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital raising activities
