What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Environmental Regulations: Maintain compliance with environmental regulations specific to the food industry.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and manuals related to safety protocols.
  • Goal Setting: Establish department goals based on key metrics like lost time accidents.
  • Budget Participation: Contribute to goal setting and budget processes in safety and compliance.
  • Program Oversight: Plan, implement, and oversee company safety programs; coordinate safety committees.
  • Industrial Hygiene Management: Assess and control factors affecting industrial hygiene, such as chemical exposure, noise, and lighting.
  • Expert Guidance: Provide best practices for hazard identification and risk reduction.
  • Proactive Safety: Promote a safe working environment through training, safety bulletins, and meetings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on hazard prevention and safety best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work with OSHA representatives and internal teams during audits and inspections.
  • Employee Engagement: Communicate with employees to identify and address safety risks and concerns.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
  • Educational Background: BS/BA in Environmental Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field is required
  • Experience: 3-5+ years in safety roles focusing on investigations, equipment safety, risk management, environment health and safety and OSHA compliance, ideally in food, consumer products, beverages, chemical, or related industries.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of health and safety laws and OSHA standards.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify unsafe behaviors/situations and provide improvement suggestions.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Influence Skills: Strong ability to communicate with all levels of management and departments.
  • Travel Willingness: Able to travel 30% of the time and work in person the remaining 70% at the corporate office.
