Position Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Credit Union in fulfilling our mission of making a positive difference in each member’s financial life. Provide various financial services to current and prospective members of the Credit Union.

Specific Duties:

  • Deliver high-quality, consistent service to both external and internal members that fulfill our service promises.
    • Respectful, Resourceful, Attentive, Responsive, Accurate, and Appreciative.
  • Continuously review and abide by operating procedures and internal controls in order to protect member accounts, cash, investments and assets from loss
  • Report any suspected questionable conduct involving financial improprieties, violation of operating procedure, company policies, misuse of Credit Union’s assets, or other fraudulent, dishonest, or illegal conduct detrimental to the interests of the Credit Union.
    • Perform consumer lending duties, including pulling credit bureau reports, interviewing loan applicants, gathering credit application information, explaining loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements.
    • Set up IRA/SEP account and US Savings Bond and be fully knowledgeable in advising members on these programs.
    • Identify the financial needs of the members and suggest an appropriate Credit Union solution. Cross-sell appropriate products and service to benefit the member and maintain sales goals set forth by the Credit Union.
    • Build and maintain strong member relationships by providing prompt, reliable and courteous service when assisting members with financial transactions and services.
    • Open new accounts, including business, estate and trust accounts. Set up new account files, and provide members with all necessary membership information.
    • Serve as branch vault teller for the credit union, which includes ordering the cash from the Federal Reserve, verifying cash received, filling teller cash orders, maintaining vault security, and balancing vault cash nightly. At main office, serve as a backup in this role as needed.
    • Perform routine member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers, and check cashing.
    • Perform Greeter role serving and directing members and guests as well as taking primary responsibility for phone calls not handled by Call Center.
    • Conduct branch cash and inventory audits.
    • Serve as back up for Branch Manager or Regional Manager during their absence.
    • Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totals to core processor totals. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to immediate supervisor and VP of Operations.
    • Perform outbound calls to solicit Credit Union products and services.
    • Participate in Lending Center or Call Center call queues as needed.
    • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies, procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Two years of financial institution experience preferred.
  • Maintain a consistently positive, helpful attitude with internal and external members. Act with a sense of urgency to resolve issues and provide outstanding service. Must be service driven.
  • Ability to abide by Transcends Service Mission and Promises.
  • Present a polished, professional image regarding conduct and appearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to proficiently use a personal computer and applicable software employed by the Credit Union.
  • Self-motivated; ability to perform at a high level with minimum supervision. Driven by results.
  • Ability to cross-sell Credit Union products and services effectively and accurately.
  • Ability to handle multiple and/or changing priorities simultaneously.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee is required primarily to sit, and occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee shall have the ability to occasionally lift bagged coin (approx. 25 pounds).

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office and banking environment. This role may routinely use standard office equipment such as, but not limited to computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
