Brief Position Overview

We are Denver based, Civil/Mining Construction GC seeking an Estimator / Business Development Manager to join our team.

Your role is the responsibility of marketing, landing bid opportunities, preparing, developing, and coordinating the preparation of full estimates, writing the proposal, for complex projects and services related to Civil Construction and Mining Projects.

These Projects include reclamation projects such as pond and or tailing reclamation, pond liners, needed water diversions, fire mitigation, regional trail projects, large and small rip rap projects, rock scaling, dam repairs, mine closures, small inlet and or outlet concrete structures, bridge repair or replacement projects, among many other diversified projects.

As a member of the Estimating / Business Development Team, you will work with Clients, Engineers, Project Managers and more, both internally and externally, on a wide range of projects.

You will report directly to our CEO, and COO. There is potential for travel for Marketing and Business Development, Bid Walks, Projects, Project Management, and Company Events.

Responsibilities:

  1. Business Development.
  2. Preparing and coordinating project estimates and bids, including reviewing civil project plans and specifications.
  3. Utilizing B2W estimating software to calculate costs and prepare detailed estimates.
  4. Evaluating and analyzing subcontractor bids for completeness and accuracy.
  5. Managing the bid process from receiving initial project documents to final bid submission.
  6. Collaborating with our estimating team, project engineers, project managers, architects, and clients to understand project requirements and objectives.
  7. Identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and proposing budget-friendly solutions.
  8. Keeping detailed records of all estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms.
  9. Maintaining knowledge of current industry trends and local construction costs.
  10. Participating in project meetings and providing updates on cost-related issues.

 

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of three years of estimating experience in construction general contracting.
2. Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

3. The ability to read and understand Plans and Specifications.
4. Proficiency in estimating software (B2W) and Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements.
6. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
7. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
9. High attention to detail and accuracy.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
