Power Engineer (Embedded Software Engineer)

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Engineer with a strong background in Embedded Software Engineering to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mobile system power characterization, with expertise in SoC subsystems such as CPU, GPU, DSP, and memory. This role requires proficiency in Python and shell scripting to develop and optimize power management solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed power characterization of mobile systems, focusing on subsystems like CPU, GPU, DSP, and memory.
  • Analyze power consumption patterns and identify opportunities for optimization to enhance system efficiency.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to develop and implement power management strategies.
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software solutions for power management in mobile devices.
  • Utilize Python and shell scripting to automate power testing, data collection, and analysis.
  • Develop tools and scripts to support power performance characterization and optimization efforts.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of SoC subsystems (CPU, GPU, DSP, memory) to assess their power and performance characteristics.
  • Work closely with hardware engineers to integrate power management techniques at the subsystem level.
  • Lead investigations into power-related issues, identifying root causes and proposing solutions.
  • Conduct performance characterization of mobile SoCs under various power conditions and workloads.
  • Develop benchmarks and test scenarios to evaluate the power-performance trade-offs in mobile systems.
  • Provide detailed reports and recommendations based on characterization results to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and systems engineers, to drive power optimization projects.
  • Document methodologies, test results, and optimization techniques to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in mobile SoC power management and embedded software engineering.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in mobile system power characterization and embedded software development.
  • Proven experience working with SoC subsystems such as CPU, GPU, DSP, and memory.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Python and shell scripting for automation and data analysis.
  • Expert understanding of power and performance characterization techniques in embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with power management strategies and tools in mobile devices.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with power profiling tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with mobile operating systems (e.g., Android, iOS).
  • Knowledge of low-power design techniques and energy-efficient software practices.
