The billing and Collections Coordinator should know billing procedures and be equipped with strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and communication skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Prepare invoices and distribute them electronically.
  • Ensure customers are billed correctly for services offered.
  • Facilitates monitoring of revenues by tracking money owed by health insurance companies, preparing invoices and updating records.
  • Maintains records of medical billing, claims, and medical insurance about the Agency’s patients.
  • Answers all questions from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies.
  • Designates corresponding codes to ensure medical facilities and health insurance companies are accurately billed for diagnoses and procedures to avoid discrepancies.
  • Receives and applies incoming payments.
  • Carefully reviews accounts for potential collection follow-up.
  • Carefully prepares all relevant information to be communicated to management or sent to payors for collection efforts.
  • Manages the status of accounts and balances and identifies any inconsistencies.
  • Records invoices and payments in billing and accounting software.
  • Ensures all clients remain informed on their outstanding debts.
  • Provides solutions to any client problems relating to billing or collections.
  • Prepares thorough reports on billing activity with clear and reliable data.
  • Makes outbound collection calls professionally while maintaining and improving customer relations.
  • Reports on activity to senior leadership
  • Charge credit cards for Private Pay Patients
  • Submission of invoices, upon request
  • Point person for Medicaid denials and resolving them timely.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Associate’s Degree required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A minimum of two years of demonstrated experience as a Medical Billing Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Medicaid billing experience is required.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience in Home Healthcare or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written formats at all levels.
  • High level of professionalism with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
