About the Role


The Data Services Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of outgoing bioanalytical sample analysis data and reports and the management of data transfer documentation in compliance with applicable procedures and regulations. The Data Services Supervisor will collaborate with bioanalytical principal investigators, sample management, and project coordinators to ensure all data deliverables are managed appropriately.


Essential Duties and Tasks:

  • Leads the data transfer and technical writing staff by managing staff; planning and evaluating department activities, establishing strategic goals and defining objectives.

Data Transfer Management:

  • Prepare bioanalytical data transfers as specified in protocol or data transfer agreement
  • Coordinate the data cleaning process, working directly with sample management and bioanalytical PI to ensure process is completed per Sponsor timelines.
  • Works closely with bioanalytical PI and Project Coordinator to ensure data deliverables meet project timelines
  • Review data transfer agreements and communicate with IT when custom data templates are required
  • Ensure quality, integrity, validity, and traceability of data

Technical Writing:

  • Prepares and provides oversight of final reports per Alturas Analytics, Inc. and client guidelines including spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, etc.
  • Verifies that the raw data used in the final report was captured correctly for the final report preparation
  • Works closely with the project lead and/or personnel responsible for the generation of a specific report to ensure time lines and quality issues are addressed
  • Distributes reports to clients
  • Works closely with the Archivist to ensure study database lock requests are completed

Additional Duties:

  • Prepare and/or review correspondence, notifications, procedures, and other documents as needed
  • May perform QC review of data if needed
  • May travel occasionally for professional development or to represent the company at client sites, professional organization and trade show venues
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned
Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological or chemistry science, or related field
  • 1-2 years of supervisory or managerial experience
  • Working knowledge of complete MS Office suite and database software
  • Experience with customer service and direct professional communication with clients
  • Work experience in a bioanalytical and/or chemistry laboratory preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify the appropriate personnel for this position

  • Skills in supervising personnel, to include delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance
