Requirements

Job Role & Responsibilities: Medical Record Technician

  • Travel to various medical facilities and hospitals assigned by the company's MRT logistics team to scan patient records. This position is seasonal and part to full-time, with the possibility of extension based on project needs. Technicians will use a company laptop and portable scanner to retrieve sections of medical records which will be uploaded into a database.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in the emerging Healthcare & Technology industry.
  • Maintains medical records operations by adhering to policies and procedures and reporting any necessary changes. Initiates medical record creation by searching the master patient index, identifying existing records or assigning new numbers, verifying information with registration areas and physicians' offices, and creating the record folder.
  • Ensures medical record availability by routing records to admissions and emergency departments, physicians, and other authorized hospital staff, as well as maintaining chart location systems.
  • Completes medical records by reviewing information, notifying healthcare providers of any deficiencies, tracking outstanding records, and notifying the medical director of physicians at risk of losing admitting privileges.
  • Resolves any discrepancies in medical records by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Maintains historical reference by abstracting and coding clinical data using standard classification systems, such as diseases, operations, procedures, and therapies, and filing documents.
  • Prepares statistical reports by collecting and summarizing medical care and census information, including types of diseases treated, surgeries performed, and use of hospital beds.
  • Provides medical record information to patients, hospital staff, law firms, insurance companies, and government agencies upon request.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential and following release-of-information protocols.
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the hospital by complying with legal requirements.
  • Ensures equipment is operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures. Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job duties.
  • Contributes to team effort by achieving related results as necessary.
  • Submit reports to the respective supervisor on a daily basis.

Qualifications / Eligibility:

  • Valid Driver's License is mandatory
  • A personal vehicle is required
  • Home internet access is necessary
  • Willingness to drive is a must
  • Proficient in PC skills and familiar with office equipment usage, such as scanners and flash drives. Knowledge of file copying, sharing, and transfer is required as you will be working with various EMR systems and need to be comfortable navigating unfamiliar software.
  • Intermediate knowledge of medical chart structure, content, and terminology is required
  • Candidates need to provide a Car Registration document for car registration

  • Good Communication skills (Knowledge of both English and Spanish language will be an added advantage)
  • Strong Communication And Time Management Skills
  • Basic MS Office Knowledge
  • Flexibility to work as per the business requirement
  • Adaptable to change; able to respond to shifting requirements and priorities
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with the ability to work autonomously, but also as part of a small team

Benefits

Pay Rate:

  • You will receive payment on an hourly or record basis, whichever is higher at the end of your pay cycle. Additionally, you will be reimbursed for any traveling expenses.
  • The compensation package includes either $10.50 per hour or $1.75 per chart, depending on your performance.
  • We also provide reimbursements for tolls, parking, and mileage.
