Join us in making Water Avenue the local cafe of choice with your experience to:

  • Acting Manager on Duty, executing the schedule as written, and validating completion of opening/closing duties
  • Provide on-site resources for all staff regarding customer service, quality and cafe workflow
  • Ensure team members executes high standards for a safe and hospitable guest experience
  • Work in close collaboration with management to ensure quality and standards of excellence are met
  • Manage and maintain daily café ordering, inventory, waste, and daily cleaning tasks
  • Communicate with our Leadership Team about cafe and barista needs, new ideas, and continuous improvement
  • Support the team in training line baristas and register role as part of the onboarding process
  • Provide excellent customer service, operating the point of sale, and making great tasting espresso beverages
  • Engage with and understand our customers, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication
  • Use your technical knowledge and ability to produce exceptional quality coffee at a specialty standard
  • Make espresso drinks while maintaining standards set by Water Ave Coffee Company
  • Provide customers with product details, be passionate in your approach and demonstrate knowledge of all food and drink items
  • Receives and processes customer payments, transitioning seamlessly between tasks as needed
  • Support other team members in daily duties
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly task management

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year’s Barista experience in food and beverage / customer service
  • 2+ years experience in a Lead or Supervisor role
  • Valid Food Handlers card
  • Experience in specialty coffee environment
  • Ability to succeed in a team environment and independently
  • Great work ethic, willingness to tackle any & all projects as needed and work calmly and well under pressure
  • Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Excellent communication
  • A strong sense of urgency and efficiency to manage all station responsibilities in a timely manner

Environment

Work is performed primarily in a fast-paced café with frequent distractions and loud noises.


Physical

The person in this position needs to occasionally or frequently:

  • Maneuver about inside the cafe/office to access food/beverage items, machinery, and other restaurant equipment
  • Operate basic office equipment
  • Operate basic cafe equipment
  • Ascend/descend a ladder or stairs to service the machinery, lights, ceiling fans, etc.
  • Be able to exchange accurate information while communication with customers
  • Be able to distinguish different tastes, i.e., sweet and bitter flavors.
  • Work in a noisy/distracting environment
