We are looking to hire a high-energy, efficient, and tenaciously thorough Lead Production Roaster to join our growing team.

Groundwork Coffee specializes in batch-roasted, certified organic coffees and artisanal teas. We remain committed to sustainable business practices. This includes maintaining direct relationships with growers and importers who promote responsible coffee and tea production. Our mission is to source and share exceptional, organic coffee that inspires people to work hard, dream big, and impact the world. We operate two Roasteries in Los Angeles, CA and Portland, OR and 9 cafes in Southern California.

About You:

As the Groundwork Lead Production Roaster you will be responsible for leading the roasting department through roasting operations and Roaster maintenance, This includes but is not limited to maintaining roasting schedules, operating the production roaster, ensuring adherence to blend recipes and profiles, and routine maintenance/cleaning.

Pay Rate:

$26.00/hour DOE - 40 Hours per Week - 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Schedule TBD (Most likely M-F)

What It Takes To Rock This Role:
  • Coffee Roasting Experience (Minimum 1 Year) is a must
  • Ability to Roast Tons of coffee
  • Be a strong Leader to the roasting team
  • Follow quality control best practices
  • Keep inventory control tight
  • Keep production data entry accurate
  • Adhere to blend formulas and roast profiles
  • Assist in determining roasting needs
  • Be fluent in understanding roaster operation and maintenance
  • Stick to roaster maintenance schedule, but also be flexible to change
  • Keep a tidy work area/roasting floor
  • Communicate inventory and quality discrepancies timely
  • Operate a forklift
  • Able to bend, twist, lift, stoop and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs - 75lbs regularly and continuously
  • Must be able to move 150lbs coffee bags at any time
  • Stand comfortably for 8 hours a day.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Able to deal skillfully and promptly to new situations
  • Able to organize and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Open to changes; learns quickly when facing new/unfamiliar tasks or challenges
