Job Description
Role
The Youth Development Specialist provides direct instruction and supervision for children enrolled in the Boys & Girls Clubs
Education and Experience
-Must be 18 years of age
-Must be able to read and write effectively
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Qualifications and Characteristics
- Performs duties under general supervision with a high degree of initiative and good judgment.
- Must be to attend to details of record keeping with accuracy.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with children, parents, staff, teachers, principals, site directors, and program director.
- Must follow through with oral and written instructions
- Must possess adequate visual, auditory, and motor skills in order to take care of children.
- Must exhibit tact and understanding when dealing with children, parents, and system personnel.
Essential Duties:
- Plans and implements daily and weekly activities for a group of club members.
- Assists Unit director in daily operation of the program site
- Assists in maintaining daily attendance reports and other clerical tasks.
- Assists in distribution and maintenance of equipment
- Assists in parent drop off and pick up of members
- Assumes responsibilities as assigned by the Unit Director
- Enrichment activities will be included
- May be required to drive a Club van periodically
- May consult with parents concerning a member and branch issues
- Must attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings
