  • Previous experience and a background within the commercial art world is optimal but not required.

About the Opportunity:

Senior Manager, Events | $115-125k

  • Seeking an experienced and dedicated Events Manager to join our global Events team based in New York to lead and provide support on key events as the gallery's US and global locations, as the gallery's footprint expands.
  • Reporting to the Events Director, the position will own and manage select events in New York as well as provide support on events in other regions.
  • This role provides the opportunity to be part of a multifaceted team that works closely alongside global gallery teams across all aspects of programming including exhibitions, fairs, artist management, client development, and public programming.
  • The position will involve contact with a variety of teams at the gallery and therefore excellent interpersonal skills are required as well as the ability to balance key conversations in a thoughtful and nuanced way.
  • A successful candidate should have a proactive mindset; ability to anticipate the needs and problem solve in a fast-paced environment; polished communication skills; high attention to detail; fine-tuned organizational and a proactive, problem-solving approach.

What you'll do:

  • Execute high touch private and third party events from beginning to end, managing internal contributors and external vendors to ensure consistently successful, brand-aligned client engagements.
  • A-to-Z ownership of event management and production on select events, including venue scouting, vendor management, seating, guest check-in, back and front of house management, etc.
  • In partnership with the Events Director, Client Development and Sales Leads, manage the strategic, logistics, and reporting processes of list development and execution.
  • Develop and clearly communicate timelines and guidelines for events with relevant internal stakeholders, including event venue presentations. Proactively generate, manage and distribute invitation lists for outreach; Manage and route RSVPs reports regularly.
  • Manage a wide range of external vendors: restaurants, hotels, caterers, audio/ visual companies, staffing agencies, valet providers among others. Negotiate budgets and contracts, menu selection, event staffing, and day-of logistics.
  • Budget and contract management. Engage with legal, accounting and operations teams to finalize contracts and ensure timely vendor payments.

What we would like you to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 5-8 years of relevant event management experience, preferably in an arts or culture organization.
  • Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on multiple projects concurrently while being a strong team player with excellent leadership skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, administrative, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Substantial budget development and management experience.
  • Familiarity with New York City and international event production field, including entertainment, food, and other vendors.
