The Community Arts Coordinator will have the opportunity to assist in the organizing, administering, and execution of educational arts programming produced by the Community Arts department at CMA. This position will focus on the development and implementation of free visual arts programming including public programs, events, group visits, and rentals at the Community Arts Center, CMA Signature Programs such as Parade the Circle and Chalk Festival, and Studio Go. This role supports the museum’s strategic priorities of activating the Community Arts Center, engaging audiences, enhancing the visitor experience, and amplifying DEI initiatives. The Community Arts Center is the primary work site for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Community Arts to administer CMA’s Community Arts Programming at the Community Arts Center, with Studio Go, and CMA Signature Programs.
  • Develop relationships with partner organizations and artists to maintain high quality, free programming.
  • Help identify potential teaching artists or arts programming. Work collaboratively with team to develop
  • Create event memos and program profiles for Community Arts programs
  • Prepare meeting agendas and meeting notes
  • Prepare and process contracts and payments for teaching artists
  • Assist with staff, volunteer, and program scheduling
  • Assist with website event postings, flyer creation, design and publications requests, email list management
  • Assist with outreach endeavors and relationship building across organizations
  • Assist accounts payable and receivable, including rental arrangements
  • Assist with facility management, room bookings, bill pay, and tenant duties
  • Assist with ticketing and attendance reporting
  • Prepare and present reports as needed
  • Arrange staff training and professional development opportunities
  • Respond to general inquiry phone calls and emails
  • Support new initiatives as needed
  • Communicate and interact with partners and patrons in a friendly, respectful manner
  • Communicate and interact across programs and divisions throughout CMA as a whole

Requirements and Key Competencies

Associate degree required, Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) preferred; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Experience in arts administration, art education, and working collaboratively with partners.

Knowledge of local and regional arts and culture landscape with a focus on visual arts.

Ability to communicate effectively and work successfully with others in a team environment.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Must be able to work weekdays as well as weekends as needed.

Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Hourly wage: $15.00/hour
