Position Overview

The Art Studio Support Specialist will play a vital role in various aspects of Community Arts initiatives, including the Community Arts Center, the mobile art van known as Studio Go, and signature programs and events. This position, based at the Cleveland Museum of Art's Community Arts Center, will assist in delivering engaging studio-based programming for the community. Key programs include Studio Go, open studios, workshops, and educational programs at the Community Arts Center, along with signature events such as Parade the Circle and Chalk Festival. This role is integral to the museum's mission of fostering engagement with audiences of all ages through collection-based art experiences.

Availability Requirements: Must be available to work on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, in addition to a flexible schedule during weekdays.

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

Preferred experience includes studio art, art education, and interaction with the public, particularly school-aged children. University students pursuing degrees in studio art, art history, or art education are encouraged to apply.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment are essential.

Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational abilities are required.

Availability to work on Friday evenings, weekends, and flexible weekday hours is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate program activities by engaging and encouraging participants, providing clear instructional support and personalized feedback to children, families, and adults.
  • Comprehend each community arts program and its relationship with the Community Arts Center and the museum's collection.
  • Assist in the preparation, setup, and cleanup for all studio programs at the Community Arts Center, for Studio Go, and other outreach events, as well as community arts signature programs.
  • Interact with visitors in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Proactively anticipate needs as they arise and take initiative.
  • Maintain and organize studio and activity spaces, storage areas, supplies, and resources.
  • Track the number of participants to help assess program reach.
  • Engage participants in satisfaction surveys during classes as assigned and when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
