Job Summary:

The senior accountant will report directly to the CFO, assisting with financial statements, WIP reporting, Purchase order review, and budget preparation in addition to fielding and facilitating questions and concerns from internal personnel related to accounting processes. The senior accountant will oversee our accountant, accounts payable, and accounts receivable positions.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the accounting team, reporting directly to the CFO
  • Assist CFO with financial statement preparation, as well as other documents that summarize financial status
  • Prepare monthly WIP report and associated statements for the bonding company
  • Research and respond to claims and questions from the bonding company
  • Assist accounting as needed including, but not limited to, processing, researching, answering personnel questions, and other pertinent needs
  • Review and record quarterly journal entries needed for accruals to properly reflect balances in the financial statements
  • Assist with Purchase Order review and approval for all job-related costs
  • Manage and enforce process for proper coding of construction invoices (payment applications) and waiver releases for contractor and vendor invoices
  • Assisting with budget preparation and ensuring compliance to project budgets
  • Assist with the preparation of materials related to construction and cost accounting matters for internal and external auditors.
  • Review and analyze capitalization of costs to ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards and company’s policies.
  • Resolve discrepancies as needed within the accounting department

Qualifications:

  • BA in accounting is required, master’s in accounting is a plus
  • Additional certifications are not a requirement, however CPA or CMA are a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or similar position is required
  • Our ideal candidate possesses great communication skills, a working understanding of technology, and is highly organized
  • Ability to work in office 5 days a week, out of our office in Allen, Tx, without relocation assistance
