Los Angeles, United States LACI Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

  About LACI

Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) is creating an inclusive green economy for the people of Los Angeles by unlocking innovation by working with startups to accelerate the commercialization of clean technologies, transforming markets through partnerships with policymakers, innovators, and market leaders in transportation, energy, and sustainable cities, and enhancing communities through workforce development, pilots, and other programs. Founded as an economic development initiative by the City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP), LACI is recognized as one of the most innovative business incubators in the world by UBI Global. In the past ten years, LACI has helped 340 portfolio companies raise $697 million in funding, generated $323 million in revenue, and created 2,565 jobs throughout the Los Angeles region, with a projected 5-year economic impact of more than $573 million. Position Summary:

The Program Manager, Energy,  is responsible for helping advance LACI’s Clean Energy Partnership initiatives to accelerate clean energy technology commercialization and leads LACI’s market landscaping and analysis efforts for clean energy, zero emission transportation and sustainable cities.   This position is based at LACI’s headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles and reports to the Sr.  Director of Energy within the Market Transformation pillar.

What You’ll Do:

  • Clean Energy Partnership: Assist the Director of Energy, both from a process and content perspective, to ensure the advancement of LACI’s Clean Energy Partnership clean energy goals. Lead the development of LACI’s Clean Energy Partnership Newsletter. Conduct research on major policy, business model, workforce, and technology issues related to the clean energy market. Track and analyze key energy policy at the local, regional and state levels. Participate in and track related technology, policy and funding developments (e.g. California Energy Commission, Department of Energy, local working groups).
  • Event Coordination: Assist in logistics related to work of multiple multi-stakeholder groups  (e.g., scheduling, meeting minutes, etc). Lead the coordination and execution of “How to Do Business With…” Events
  • Market Landscape & Analysis: Research, synthesize, socialize, and generate market landscape reports with the assistance of other Market Transformation team members for key markets including  Zero Emission Transportation, Clean Energy and Sustainable Cities. Continuously monitor and disseminate notable updates and activities in the aforementioned key markets as they pertain to LACI’s mission and key priorities
  • Start-up Cultivation: Seek new start-ups that align with LACI’s mission and key markets and pre-filter these start-ups for potential fit and vetting by the Unlocking Innovation team

Why You’re Right for the Job:

  • You are a team player and collaborator: Working with different colleagues and departments comes naturally to you. You can determine other’s needs and how you can problem-solve quickly.
  • You understand the ins and outs of the Energy Sector: You see technology as a way to improve Energy goals not just in Los Angeles, but the entire country. You can easily dive into logistics and are able to problem-solve where organizations can be more efficient.
  • You care about the details. It doesn’t intimidate you to be responsible for planning multiple meetings with multiple stakeholders, while juggling multiple research, process and content projects. That’s a lot of “multiples”, but your organizational skills and strategies will set you up for success.
  • Learning about Clean Energy is exciting to you: You are not just looking for any Energy role, you’re applying because you’re passionate about climate change. The idea of being part of something that could make an impact on the LA region and set precedent across the country is a key motivator.
  • You’re PRO-LACI: you’re a proactive, pro-environment, pro-solutions professional that is dedicated to making the world a cleaner, safer, better place to live in through clean technologies. In addition, you have a commitment to inclusion, or the need for solutions to support all people in a community regardless of race, religion, gender, immigration status, or ethnicity.

Requirements:

Basically, we want to know you can get the job done. This means you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environment, Policy, or related field
