ABOUT THE ROLE:

This position will assist in compilation of data used for forecasting, budgets, cash flow reports and will contribute to liquidity and performance of ad-hoc analysis. The analyst will assist on work to support management team initiatives that include data compilation for Asset /Liability reporting, annual operating budget, quarterly re-forecasts, and exposure to pricing. Position requires ability to work with data, perform analytics and understand financial models. The ALM Intern will assist the ALM Team on reporting for CFO and Senior Leaders.


WHAT YOU WILL DO (in descending order of importance)

  1. Assists with data gathering and reconcilements for asset/liability process including assistance with liquidity projections and back testing.
  2. Supports distribution of weekly pricing data.
  3. Supports forecasting processes and analysis of results and contribute to risk related activities including financial risks, liquidity, and financial trends.
  4. Assists in maintenance and update of budget and forecasting application, including weekly ongoing validations.
  5. Assists in assorted financial analysis and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including monthly Financial Reporting workbook provided to senior management.
  6. Performs other ALM, budgeting, finance and accounting duties as assigned by Senior Financial Planning Analyst or FVP, Asset/Liability Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

BA/BS candidate in Accounting or Finance or recently obtained degree.


Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

  1. Must have evidence of education related to accounting. Understanding operations of credit union or financial institutions a plus.
  2. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
  3. Knowledge of business intelligence reporting software and ability to work with data for financial institution preferred.
  4. Motivation to develop skills in research and interpret data related to financial performance.
  5. Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills required.
  6. Must have the ability to achieve accuracy by checking own work.
  7. Understanding of financial modeling concepts, GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory rules related to position required.
  8. Must have the ability to communicate information in an organized manner, clearly and concisely.
  9. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously with an effective outcome.
  10. Must have the ability to deal with highly confidential information. Must possess strong service orientation skills in alignment with the credit union's mission and core values.
  11. Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills required.
  12. Ability to function in a commercial office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to fax, copier, telephone, etc. Some travel required. Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. e.g. file boxes.
