Job Summary

The Solvents Environmental Specialist will be responsible for environmental compliance for local, state and federal programs ( Air, Land, Water and Waste ) primarily for the Houston Area Sites ( Houston, Baytown & Bayport ).

Essential Functions / Key Accountabilities

  • Work closely onsite with plant personnel for environmental compliance requirements
  • Timely completion of daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly inspections and reporting for all Sites.
  • Assist in environmental compliance including emissions inventory reporting, Tier II, mass emissions cap & trade, MACT reports, CEMs reports, Title V deviation report, weekly RCRA audit, monthly WW DMR, annual waste summary.
  • Maintain existing environmental compliance programs and permits.
  • Assist in air, WW permit applications, or PBR applications.
  • Support plant operations by reviewing proposed process changes/management of change (MOC) for environmental impacts and obtain appropriate authorizations. Primary contact for Growth Process environmental questions or direction.
  • Support compliance goals and plant training efforts.
  • Effectively work with the Global H&S Leader, Site Leadership, Site Security and Emergency Services personnel to ensure that all work practices are compliant with all regulatory (OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, etc.) and Monument's internal requirements.
  • Participate in customer audits as serve as lead environmental contact for government agency inspections.
  • Assist in the management of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes including profiling, scheduling, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Reviewing and tracking of invoices related to environmental expenses.
  • Maintain documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance with air emissions authorizations (permit by rule, new source review, etc.),
  • Support plant with process improvement projects
  • Manage LDAR monitoring for Houston sites and any other third party monitoring at different sites
  • Support plants to perform emission calculations during major - incidents
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the BMT's or GLT. Support other business if necessary
  • Required to respond to calls during off hours/weekend when required.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Science preferred.
  • Alternate four year technical degrees coupled with relevant job experience considered.

Experience / Required Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance either through a consulting firm or in a manufacturing facility.
  • Familiar with compliance requirements of regulatory codes (TCEQ, EPA, etc.) and environmental permits.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn and grow with the evolving organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with plant personnel at multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs, Sharepoint and specific need software as existing.
  • Desired skill: writing macro ability

Physical Requirements

· Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.

· Sitting. Working from a seated position for up to 12 hours per day.

· Climbing. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms one to two times per day.

· Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.

· Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

· Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to move objects forward, downward or outward.

· Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

· Lifting. Raising objects up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds consistently from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.

· Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

· Possible subject to environmental conditions. Activities could occur inside and outside.

· Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour.

· Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body. Operate/drive utility vehicle.

· Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

· Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required. FRC uniform, hard hat, safety toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.
