Job DescriptionJob Description

Concord Group Insurance is seeking a motivated and talented Software Engineer III to join our forward-thinking IT Department. In this role you will be responsible for coding development of business applications and system integrations related to insurance systems. System development includes analysis, technical design, coding, testing, and implementation. In addition, maintenance and support for production systems. A critical component of this position is to work with leadership to define software requirements and take the lead on operational and technical projects, as assigned.

This position is considered hybrid, you must be able to work on-site and attend in-person group meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

    • Interprets the requirements and performs system analysis to determine what needs to be coded in multiple areas of the system
    • Little to no guidance necessary to understand the scope of change to not impact other processes and system functionality, and knows when to seek out application expert
    • Ability to do advanced/complex research with intuition and experience to identify data relationships and dependencies
    • Works independently to complete complex application development and coding; mentors and assists others
    • Significant experience writing, and performing unit testing and system testing of components; defines approach for system testing to ensure adequate coverage; mentors and assists others
    • Skilled and experienced with thorough understanding of advanced concepts for debugging and troubleshooting processes
    • Experienced with performing code reviews for complex coding changes and can provide constructive feedback
    • Experience to propose complex functional design workflows and system workflows with architectural diagrams for technical lead(s) and technical architect
    • Works on non-routine or ill-defined, analysis-type problems related to multiple activities or processes and having some variety and/or significant difficulty
    • Deals with a variety of operations/production problems requiring judgment within generally defined policies and procedures; assesses priorities and exercises judgment in implementing corrections
    • Ability to independently lead a project and assign tasks as needed to peers
    • Other duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

    • Minimum 5 years of experience for coding and application development
    • BA/BS degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent experience required
    • Proven experience as a senior level software engineer
    • Property and Casualty Insurance or Financial Services knowledge preferred
    • Experience working with the following including successful implementations of several large projects
      • Microsoft Technologies as distributed application development with .NET Framework and C#, ASP.Net MVC or Web/WCF services
      • ADO.NET or Entity Framework, BizTalk
      • SQL Server
      • Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server
