PATH is seeking candidates passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives to join our Meal Services Team as the Sous Chef at the Santa Barbara office.

ABOUT PATH
Since its foundation in 1984, PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.

ABOUT THE JOB
The Sous Chef plays a critical role in the success of PATH's Interim Housing by ensuring the kitchen and its staff create a welcoming and homelike environment and prepare nutritious meals for interim housing guests. The Sous Chef is responsible for providing administrative, supervisory, and quality control oversight to the kitchen staff and coordination of
guests' dietary menu plans as needed.

  • Staff Supervision & Support: Provide direct supervision to culinary staff and for all kitchen activities. Coordinate scheduling of all kitchen staff, including volunteers. Plan, set, and adjust as needed ongoing workload assignments and schedules for work completion.
  • Provide all necessary supports to volunteers to ensure they have a valuable experience.
  • Ensure and coordinate 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews with all kitchen staff.
  • Provide regular and appropriate feedback to staff, including training, opportunities for professional growth, regular evaluations, and verbal and written improvement plans when needed.
  • Coordinate weekly meetings with kitchen staff, program managers, and the Head Chef. Ensure all kitchen staff timesheets and hours are accurate and submitted per the
    payroll cycle.
  • Review, approve, and submit staffing agency timesheets on a weekly basis.
  • Promote and follow the established interim housing values, guidelines, and rules.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six (6) years of relevant experience in the culinary field.
  • Two (2) years leading a team in culinary capacity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • One (1) year leading a team in culinary capacity.
  • Current Managerial Food Handling certificate.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Regardless of qualifications, candidates must:

  • Have employment eligibility verification
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
    • Tuberculosis Test
    • Background Screening
    • Drug Test

DRIVING
Driving is an essential function of this position. To meet the employment requirements for this role, all candidates must:

  • Have reliable transportation
  • A valid driver's license
  • Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
  • The ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage
