POSITION SUMMARY:

This grant-based position is responsible for facilitating the formation and capacity-building of Tenant Association Boards, (TAB) within SLHA public housing portfolio. This role involves engaging with residents, cultivating community leadership, coordinating beautification events, and fostering a supportive and inclusive living environment. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and a commitment to promoting community engagement and resident satisfaction. Assists other team members as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position would normally be gained through the equivalent of a minimum of one year of experience in housing, customer service, or other relevant experience. Will consider a combination of appropriate education and experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with property management, residents, and community organizations to initiate and support the formation of Tenant Association Boards.
  • Ability to serve as the primary point of contact for Tenant Association Boards (TABS) members and interested participants, addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally.
  • Skill in working with TABs to develop and implement community beautification plans, strategies, and initiatives in collaboration with local stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, businesses, and residents.
  • Ability to plan and organize community events, activities, and programs to promote resident engagement, socialization, and community cohesion.
  • Ability to identify and prioritize areas in need of beautification, such as parks, public spaces, streetscapes, and vacant lots, based on community input, assessment, and feedback.
  • Ability to coordinate with local artists, landscape architects, designers, and contractors to conceptualize and execute beautification projects, such as mural installations, landscape enhancements, and public art installations.
  • Skill in procuring necessary materials, supplies, and equipment for beautification projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, businesses, and government agencies to support ongoing beautification efforts and promote community engagement and stewardship.
  • Ability to conduct and outreach and education activities to raise awareness about the importance of community beautification, environmental conservation, and sustainable practices.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate the impact of beautification projects on the community, collecting data, soliciting feedback, and documenting successes and lessons learned.
  • Skill in maintaining accurate records of tenant association activities, membership rosters, meeting minutes, and correspondence, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and confidentiality standards, maintain accurate activity records, including date, time, participants, activities, etc.
  • Experience working with racially diverse populations and demonstrated cultural competency skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to demonstrate sound judgment, especially under pressure.
  • Adherence to confidentiality laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to comply with policies, rules, and procedures of the organization; and
  • Must have and maintain a current driver's license and be insurable under the Authority's automobile insurance.
