Position: Relocation Assistant

Category: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Supervisor: Community Manager/District Manager

Hours: Typical range of hours is based on the community needs and may require weekends and after hour emergency services. Workdays may be adjusted based on community needs. Full Time: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (average 40 hours).

Physical Demands: Moderate (occasional up to 75 pounds) - Climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, etc.

General Summary of Associate Responsibility:

  • To support and assist all aspects of the property rehab project, while reporting to and acting under the direction of the Community Manager and District Manager.
  • Meet and work with development, property management, and resident services coordinator (if applicable) and other third-party supportive services staff to identify and coordinate services for households with special needs and ensure uninterrupted services and any other necessary services residents need during the relocation process.
  • Maintain a spreadsheet that includes each household relocated, date relocated, location of the relocated unit, moving company that moved the resident, and date resident moved back to their unit.
  • Provide ongoing status reports on relocation project processes.
  • Monitor vendor (i.e., movers, cleaners, packing supply company, etc.) contract compliance.
  • Respond to resident inquiries and be the primary contact for residents regarding relocation.
  • Prepare and distribute written notices in preparation for upcoming resident relocations to affected households.
  • Work closely with the PM, construction, and development team to coordinate and ensure all requirements are met prior to the start of construction work for each unit.
  • Conduct advance planning with every household and provide additional support to special needs households (including elderly, disabled, and households with household maintenance issues).
  • Inspect temporary units and completed units to ensure and document that decent, safe, and sanitary (DSS) requirements are satisfied, if requested.
  • Notify residents of their move date and provide ongoing contact and support to ensure that they are prepared to move to their new temporary unit assignment.
  • Help with arranging for moves, including packing/unpacking assistance for households desiring such assistance.
  • Issue boxes to residents to prepare for moving
  • Schedule, coordinate and supervise moves for residents undergoing temporary relocation
  • Work with the General Contractor and Owner team to ensure moves occur on time with respect to the most current project schedule.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Customer Service background (preferred)
