POSITION: Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist, Research and Development

REPORTS TO: CSO


We have been hired to identify a Senior/Principal Scientist for a clinical-stage biotech company that is committed to developing a new generation of intravenously deliverable oncolytic viruses with the goal of ultimately curing cancer, especially advanced cancer.

The scientist will be responsible for developing and employing in vitro/in vivo models and have expertise in the characterization, culture, and manipulation of oncolytic viruses. Performs hands-on, laboratory-based, immunology work, developing and optimizing methodologies and assays, planning, executing, interpreting data, and troubleshooting experiments using good scientific judgment.

This individual will also have a strong understanding and experience working with the IND process and IND enabling studies.


ROLES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:

This position requires broad expertise in cellular immunology, tumor immunology, and flow cytometry; extensive knowledge and experience developing, and testing the functional activity of T, B lymphocytes, Treg and NK cells.

Good knowledge of molecular biology, oncology; experience with anti-cancer drug candidates as it relates to oncolytic viruses is a must.

Cellular and/or tumor immunology principles, technologies, and experimental techniques (cell culture, in vitro cellular assays, Elisa, flow cytometry, etc.)

Multi-parameter flow cytometry and proficiency in FACS data analysis programs

Cell separation technologies and FACS sorting

Murine tumor models (genetically engineered or syngeneic). Isolate and analyze the different immune cell populations from blood, tumor, spleen.

Evaluating the oncolytic therapy capabilities of oncolytic viruses in in vitro and in vivo oncology models; involving clinical biomarker development.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; must have the ability to organize, communicate, and present complex data sets to key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Work wells independently and as part of a team.

Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work with external academic, biotechnology, and contract research organizations.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related field.

Minimum 4 years postdoc experience, industry experience is preferred.

IND experience and experience working on IND enabling studies

Experience in a biotechnology company with broad knowledge and experience in cell and molecular biology methods. Immuno-Oncology field experience is preferred.

Working knowledge of developing and employing in vitro/in vivo models.

Expertise in the characterization, culture, and manipulation of peripheral blood cell populations
