Flint, United States Global Psychological Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Global Psychological provides full-service consulting, staffing, assessment, and program offerings that are customized to the unique needs of individuals, schools, and organizations. Our legacy of success comes from our in-house expertise, our commitment to collaboration with all stakeholders, and our comprehensive understanding of education at the individual, organizational, and system levels.

We are currently seeking to welcome a skilled and purpose-driven Special Education Coordinator to our passionate team

Why work with Global Psychological?

  • By working outside of a single school or district, you can have a variety of perspectives and experiences alongside others in your profession, all while being free from tasks that district employees are typically required to do.
  • We offer better overall compensation and benefits than typical school districts (including summer pay for our full-time salaried school staff).
  • We provide guidance, supervision, and support to our whole team, and we will always advocate for you and your needs. We host professional development workshops and CEUs, and you can also check out any materials you need from our lending library.
  • You’ll feel connected to both the Global Psychological community, as well as with the school you work in. You’ll have the opportunity to build working relationships (and even friendships) with your co-workers, especially if they are in multiple buildings. They will be your greatest resource

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with building principals, special and general education teachers, outside agencies, etc. to identify students' needs, resolve issues, receive/convey information, and/or develop individualized methods of instruction.
  • Consult with building administrators, teachers, and parents to convey information, provide curriculum support and/or assist in the development of specialized accommodations, including participation in the district level MTSS (Multi-Tier System of Support) process.
  • Maintain records, communicate, and collaborate with District Discipline Team to ensure students who display behaviors that violate the Student Code of Conduct are disciplined with fairness and adequate interventions are in place to effect a behavioral change.
  • Establish support systems for special education teachers and educational support staff (e.g., curriculum implementation modeling, student assessments, general guidance, etc.) to help in achieving student success while complying with District, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with Special Education Director to identify, implement and evaluate special education programs and services to carry out and achieve objectives and adapt program components to meet student needs within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Prepare a wide variety of written materials (e.g., assessment reports, IEPs, correspondence, internal and external program audits, correspondence, curriculum materials, and aides, etc.) to document activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Provide staff supervision and special education-related training, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of, and assure staff’s knowledge of, FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and other applicable state and federal confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate in school, district, and organizational professional development opportunities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of special education requirements in a K-12 school setting (required)
  • Special Education certification (required)
  • School Administrator certification (preferred)

Global Psychological is committed to equal employment opportunities to employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, gender identity or expression, or veteran status.
