Job Overview:
The Mid-Michigan Area Public Schools Consortium is seeking a dedicated individual to fulfill the role of Secretary within the Special Education Department. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of special education documentation and providing comprehensive administrative support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain confidential special education records, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other pertinent documentation.
  • Perform general clerical duties such as typing, filing, and organizing records.
  • Provide confidential secretarial assistance to the Director of Special Education, handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Analyze urgent situations and exercise sound judgment in interactions with parents, students, and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to special education.
  • Accurately input and maintain data within the Synergy database system.
  • Organize and oversee extensive confidential files for all special education students.
  • Facilitate the transfer of special education records as required.
  • Coordinate scheduling for IEP meetings and arrange for substitutes as necessary.
  • Process requests for special education records, including copying, mailing, and faxing.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of student information at all times.
  • Oversee all operational aspects of the Special Education office.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, EdPlan, and Synergy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks, including lifting and moving objects.
  • Effective verbal, auditory, and written communication skills.
  • Capability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and other physical movements.

Salary:
Compensation is hourly based on the Administrative Secretary Contract, with a commitment of 5 hours per day over 204 days per year.
