Job Summary:Melink Solar is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to oversee all aspects of its operations. The Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth strategy, ensuring operational efficiency, implementing new processes to scale the company’s growth and maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer experience.  This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to make a significant impact in the renewable energy sector.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Project Execution: from contract execution to final completion, ensure projects are delivered on time, under budget, with no safety accidents, and with great customer satisfaction.
  • Leadership Development: manage all Sr. Project Managers, Project Managers, Associate Project Managers, and Construction managers. Provide assistance, problem solving, and leadership as required to successfully complete projects and help develop the team.  Review and advise on project execution team resources. Assign projects to projects teams based on experience/skill and available capacity.
  • Subcontractor & Vendor Sourcing: complete project ‘buy-out’ to select final equipment & material vendors and subcontractors.  Ensure subcontractor contracts contain no scope gaps and the requirements of the customers contract are met.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: coordinate with engineering team as needed on pre-construction engineering, interconnection agreement submittals/approvals, and zoning/permitting approvals. Coordinate with engineering team as needed during contract to answer RFIs.
  • Customer Experience: establish a cohesive, connected and collaborative relationship with customers.  Foster a trusting relationship with customers where we anticipate their needs and follow through with our commitments on time and budget.  
  • High Performance Teams: hire and facilitate the development of individuals who possess the required leadership and skill-based competencies to produce a high-performing outcome for the company.  Our teams encourage and produce a positive and engaging work environment where all members can achieve their professional goals.  
  • Process Improvement: review current processes and implement improvements as needed to make team more efficient and minimize risk for the company. Ensure any mistakes or areas for improvement are shared across the project execution team and processes are implemented to prevent the mistake again.
  • Risk Management: continuously look for ways to minimize risk to the company.
  • Financial Performance: establish and own regular reporting of project financial metrics including spend versus budget, cost to complete and overall project profitability.  Complete regular monthly project financial reviews with finance team and report out accordingly.
  • Safety: establish and lead a culture and attitude of safety within the company and project teams that is based in the health and welfare of our people.  Find and encourage the positive behaviors on project teams. 
  • Quality Assurance: establish and lead a culture that ensures the Melink Solar quality standards are met on each jobsite.  Develop and implement processes, standards and quality methods that ensure construction teams deliver the quality we promised.
  • Periodically visit project jobsites and meet with Construction Managers to ensure strict compliance with company expectations and standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, manage complex projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams and help them grow individually and personally.
  • A strong technical knowledge base including an understanding of construction techniques, building/electrical codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Construction industry knowledge a minimum. Solar/Industry expertise preferred.
  • Clear and effective communication during interactions with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and team members to ensure everyone is on the same page and project objectives are met.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred. (Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar)
  • Project management expertise (PMP Preferred).
  • Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work.
  • Experience with reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within the solar or renewable energy industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental practices related to solar construction.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project and/or Smartsheets.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers
