Position Summary:

The Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the cost accounting function within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and cost structures, as well as the ability to analyze and interpret financial data to support strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely reporting of cost information, contribute to the improvement of cost control and efficiency, and support the financial planning and analysis activities of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documentation, and records.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Monitor and analyze variances in manufacturing costs and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closing activities related to cost accounting.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to understand cost drivers and develop strategies to improve cost efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed cost forecasts, budgets, and financial models to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Manage the inventory valuation process and ensure accuracy in reporting inventory costs.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis to support new product development, process improvements, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external regulations.
  • Provide training and support to finance and operations teams on cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Lead and develop a team of cost accountants, providing guidance and mentoring to ensure professional growth and high performance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed environment is a plus.
