Utility/Permit Coordinator Job Description

As part of the permitting coordination: this is a highly responsible role which serves as the liaison between permit applicants and reviewers through intake and distribution of permit applications, building plans, and other supplemental documents.

As part of the utility coordination: this is a highly responsible role and is responsible for the day-to-day management, oversight and reporting of the addressing and power schedules to meet market specific Household Passed (HHP) metrics.

In this position, you will coordinate and perform technical work related to new utility and OSP construction permit installations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and track first and second utility submittals and responses.
  • Review Design plans and Prepare utility and permit conflict analysis.
  • Review Utility and permit Work Plans and recommend for approval.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, schedules, prior rights determinations, and agreements for relocation.
  • Ensure FDOT requirements for Utility Certification and permitting are met.
  • Lead or facilitate meetings involving utility or permit specific activities.
  • Full client engagement: interpersonal and client facing responsibilities include excellent, clear and concise, oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings and resources.
  • Communicating with different team members and reviewing bodies.
  • Preventing procedural delays and organizing detailed permit applications.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates or relevant technical degree
  • 3 or more years of experience in utility coordination.
  • 3 or more years of experience in permit coordination.

Key Attributes:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Site Tracker, SharePoint
  • Thorough understanding of FDOT’s Utility Accommodation Policy and Standards
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
  • Experience with utility/permit coordination on FDOT or local County projects.
  • OSP construction permitting experience
