Job Title: Wholesale Outside Sales Representative

Department: Maryland Commercial Department

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland

Reports To: Maryland Commercial Manager

Job Overview:

This position involves calling on Wholesale branches within assigned territory, HVAC Mechanical Contractors, and Plumbing Contractors that purchase and/or install products marketed by Cummins-Wagner. The Wholesale outside salesperson will work cooperatively with other team members to gain preferred status within key accounts and to drive sales toward Cummins-Wagner products. This individual is responsible for achieving sales and profit targets.

  • Possesses superior communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Customer service driven with attention to details
  • Goal-oriented self-starter who can work independently with a minimum amount of guidance
  • Possesses customer relationship-building skills
  • Must be a team player and able to function as a contributing member of the sales team
  • Must maintain an active driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass background and reference checks, as well as a drug test

Scope of Responsibility:

Specific roles and responsibilities of Wholesale Outside Sales include:

  • Establish & maintain CRM database and/or contact file of key personnel at all accounts
  • Conduct regular product training sessions with various influencers and ensure appointments are posted to Training Calendar
  • Placement of Cummins-Wagner literature and marketing materials within all accounts
  • Coordinate with various vendors when planning factory tours
  • Coordinate with the Estimating Department for timely & accurate issuance of proposals to customers
  • Tracking of job quotes
  • Establish a regular call plan that maximizes the use of time focusing on 3 days of in-person sales visits, training, trade meetings, and trade shows per week
  • Usage of Cummins-Wagner preferred software to track/submit business mileage and expenses. Expenses/Mileage must be logged within one month of receipt
  • Work with various manufacturers and, MDC VP of Sales to promote new product introductions
  • Travel with manufacturers to various customers when they are in town
  • Attend factory training and/or marketing meetings as directed
  • Participate in various Trade Associations and assist with trade shows as required
  • Assist with troubleshooting and after-sales support
  • Respond to and facilitate after-hours emergency opening support with the service department
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
