Outside Sales Representative

Summary:

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for the management and overall financial success within his/ her geographic territory. This position will make sales calls, present new merchandise, promotions, and special product offerings. Be able to open new accounts as well as add on additional product lines to existing accounts. Under direct or general supervision, act as a Sales Representative for the Hardware/Dealer Sales Department and report to the Regional Sales Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

  • Conduct effective calls and face-to-face meetings with customers daily
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers
  • Develop and manage all sales leads and customer accounts within CRM system
  • Effectively educate customers on the financial benefits of new and existing product lines
  • Coordinate direct shipment quotations with assigned customers and the Purchasing Department.
  • Guide and assist customers in planning for future growth and sales development.
  • Check customer’s on-hand inventory, compare to reorder points, and determine reorder quantities.
  • Utilize the company’s catalog to obtain the ordering information.
  • Actively communicate industry trends, market conditions/opportunities and recommendations to the HBU leadership team.
  • Consistently track, analyze and report individual sales pipelines within CRM system and take appropriate action to ensure execution of team and corporate goals.
  • Monitor the company’s industry competitors, new products, and market conditions to understand a customer’s specific needs.
  • Work closely with marketing department to help build the brand and geographic presence
  • Meet personal and team sales targets
  • Attend networking, sale events, and trainings to keep abreast of the latest developments
  • Report and provide feedback to management using financial statistical data
  • Actively participate in business meetings and trainings as needed
  • Overnight travel is required

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Sales experience with a proven track record of new customer development
  • CRM system competency in creating and managing customer data, sales tasks and opportunity funnels.
  • Product knowledge and experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-sufficiency in administrative tasks including intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 3 years outside sales experience required
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Home Improvement/ Hardware Retail knowledge preferred

Other Skills and Abilities:

Strong leadership, analytical, mathematical, presentation, problem solving, and interpersonal skills are required. Good organizational skills and follow-up are essential, as are multi-tasking skills and attention to detail. Requires an enthusiastic, aggressive, self-starter who has excellent communication skills.
