Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOur practice, Vermont Oral Surgery Associates, in South Burlington VT seeks a Patient Care Coordinator to join the team

As the Patient Care Coordinator, you will provide customer service over the phone and in person, acting as the director of first impressions. This position requires a self-starter who finds value in working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while providing support and solutions to patients.

Practice Hours: Monday & Friday - 7 am to 2 pm, Tues - Thursday 7 am to 4 pm. No weekends.

Major responsibilities
  • Greets visitors, patients, and families in a friendly, professional manner and directs them appropriately.
  • Maintains an efficient patient flow through the registration process and provides excellent customer service to patients/families. 
  • Promptly answers the telephone, directs all calls appropriately, takes an accurate message, and delivers to the appropriate individual/demonstrates appropriate etiquette.
  • Posts all self-pay charges, collects payments and provides patients with receipts.
  • Reconciles billing slips to a daily schedule.
  • Updates patient information, including demographics, insurance, HIPAA forms, and financial waivers. 
  • Schedules appointments accurately according to department guidelines, using a waitlist when applicable. 
  • Effectively communicates problems, concerns, or issues to the Office Supervisor / Manager appropriately and promptly. 
  • Performs various clerical duties such as faxing, photocopying, scanning, filing, and mailing. 
  • Demonstrates flexibility with various work schedules and covers for other staff when asked, including other office locations. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow downtime procedures adequately. 
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required, A.S. Degree in healthcare/related field preferred
  • 1+ year of experience as a Medical Receptionist
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electronic medics
  • Adeptness in the Health Care Industry
  • Attentive to detail 
  • Be able to prioritize workload and perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Excellent phone etiquette and ability to establish rapport with diverse clientele, multiple phone lines
  • General grasp of dental & medical terminology 
  • Ability to work on a rotating Saturday schedule
