Featuring a seasonal patio that overlooks the Cuyahoga River, the River Merchant is Kent's premier riverfront restaurant. We are located at 911 North Mantua Street in Kent, OH; our hours of operation are: 5 PM–9:30 PM (Mon), 11 AM–9:30 PM (Tue–Thu and Sun) and 11 AM–10:30 PM (Fri–Sat).

We at the River Merchant pride ourselves on delivering a memorable dining experience through innovative cuisine, a curated wine collection, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. We are seeking a talented and experienced Kitchen Manager to help lead our kitchen team, contribute to mutual goals across the restaurant, and elevate our clientele’s dining experience.

Job Summary

The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing and executing all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation while managing their line staff. This role requires a creative and passionate individual who can lead our kitchen team while contributing to the overall success of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
  • Lead, train, and hold kitchen staff accountable while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Scheduling kitchen staff and collaborating with the Restaurant Owner in the management of all back of house operations

Qualifications:

Reliable transportation to/from the River Merchant (Kent, OH) (Required)

Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Chef, Head Chef, or similar senior culinary role (i.e., culinary degree or equivalent professional experience) (Preferred),

Strong leadership and team management abilities (including strong communication and interpersonal skills),

Excellent organizational and multitasking skills,

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
