POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Kidstop Site Coordinator is responsible to the youth development director for providing a high-quality, safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate afterschool program that promotes soft skills like teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and creativity along with character and academic enrichment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

To develop a continually increasing standard of excellence as directed by the youth development director in accordance with YMCA goals and policies in the following areas:

  1. Conduct formal and informal evaluations of Kidstop staff such that evaluations result in the achievement of their performance objectives.
  2. Ensure that each Kidstop staff member is consistently recognized either formally or informally.
  3. Implement an age-appropriate curriculum with an emphasis on safety and growth in social and physical skills.
  4. Develop and maintain positive relations with school principals, teachers, and administration
  5. Provide mission-based, fun, age-appropriate, safe, and meaningful activities.
  6. Ensure the safety and security of each child in your care.
  7. Ensure the proper maintenance and use of equipment, supplies, and materials
  8. Fully comply with YMCA safety policies and state and local codes.
  9. Develop and maintain positive relations with parents
  10. Connect with the staff at the site on a weekly basis to communicate information gained through Kidstop Site Coordinator /OST Coordinator meetings.
  11. Complete and file lesson plans weekly.
  12. Accurately complete an incident/accident report for each incident/accident and submit and report it in accordance with staff training.
  13. Maintain neat and accurate attendance.
  14. Maintain a file of all parent flyers, information sheets, and lesson plans.
  15. Connect with YMCA members and program participants in a way that contributes to YMCA membership goals.
  16. Always exhibit positive, character, such as friendliness and courtesy, that is consistent with the YMCA mission.
  17. Whatever else may be needed to further the YMCA movement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a Child Development Credential or have a minimum of 3 years of related field experience.
  • Have a history of excellence in achieving qualitative and quantitative growth in programs and participants.
  • Demonstrate solid leadership as demonstrated by a high level of loyalty and respect among direct reports.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Be passionate about the YMCA mission and vision and must personally advocate and demonstrate the core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
  • Meet qualifications needed for South Dakota State childcare licensing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Have CPR and First aid certification prior to or within 60 days of hire.
  • If possible, have or be able to obtain a Class B driver's license with passenger and air brakes endorsement.
