Job Description

The parts support specialist will communicate with customers and act as a liaison, provide best in class customer service and information about R.W. Martin products and services. This role will focus on customer relationship growth and development. The parts support specialist will also provide support to our shop, offsite projects, and field service technicians. The parts support specialist will demonstrate the company’s core values in all daily activities.

Performance will be measured by the employees’ impact on the organization through performance objectives, departmental goals and their demonstration of RW Martin Core Values.

Essential functions

  • Ensure customer is informed during the open order period to keep the customer updated on the order status including the projected shipping date from the supplier.
  • Monitor and manage backorders regularly with vendors to insure timely delivery.
  • Manage parts department shipping and receiving duties.
  • Assist the Parts Manager as needed managing physical inventory and cycle counting duties.
  • Determine shipping needs for parts and for large items, arrange truck shipments and provide bills of lading to accompany shipments.
  • Assist Parts Manager with purchasing.
  • Provide quotes to parts customers and perform regular quote follow up.
  • Help with sales lead generation and business development.
  • Develop bills of material for pre-owned job projects.

Supervisory responsibilities

The parts support specialists has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work environment

This position primarily is completed in an office environment with some exposure to industrial environments. The use of PPE is required when working/visiting industrial environments.

Physical demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

May be required to sit for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity to accurately work on the telephone, computer keyboard, and other equipment. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds in the form of boxes of supplies or product components.

Travel required

Must be able and willing to travel away from home overnight when necessary.

Attend trade conventions, business meetings, conferences as well as social functions as a parts team representative.

Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and maintain to the Company’s sole satisfaction an insurable motor vehicle operating status.

Required education and experience

Requires knowledge ordinarily acquired from a high school diploma plus several years of work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
