As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial management and reporting processes within the organization. This pivotal role involves managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic guidance to executive leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day tasks and processes of the Billing, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and General Accounting teams.
- Conduct comprehensive month-end project analysis encompassing incurred costs, percent complete, revenue recognition, and margin, while also producing and evaluating monthly financial statements to ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain the integrity of reported results.
- Show dedication to nurturing effective team relationships to drive project success. Employ strategic hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and employee development techniques to establish and maintain positive working dynamics within the department.
- Analyze the monthly cash flow of projects, reviewing billings, customer payments, and subcontractor disbursements.
- Engage with the Project Management team to deliver updates on project budgets, oversee tracking and reconciliations, and facilitate coordination with external auditors for annual financial and insurance audits.
Qualifications:
- 7 + years of increasingly challenging accounting experience, preferably within the construction sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, with a strong ability to manipulate data and create complex financial models. Experience with Vista software is desirable.
- 6 or more years in a managerial capacity, demonstrating leadership and decision-making skills.
