A Private Equity firm is seeking a hands-on Controller to manage financial accounting practices and policies, maintain fiscal records, and prepare financial reports for a recent acquisition. This role will oversee the timely monthly close of the General Ledger, the consolidation and reporting of financial results, coordination of audits, payroll management, and staff supervision. The Controller will also support due diligence, ensure timely reporting, and be responsible for building, managing, and developing a team of accountants.
This role involves full management of accounting operations, ensuring the integrity of financial records. The position includes leading the accounting team, managing all accounting procedures, and overseeing daily financial activities.
Responsibilities:- Manage and coordinate the daily tasks and processes of the Billing, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and General Accounting teams.
- Conduct comprehensive month-end project analysis.
- Show dedication to fostering effective team relationships to drive project success. Implement strategic hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and employee development to maintain positive working dynamics within the department.
- Analyze monthly cash flow for projects, including reviewing billings, customer payments, and disbursements.
- Engage with the leadership team to provide updates.
- Generate financial reports that inform strategic decision-making.
- Lead collaboration with external auditors for all financial audits and tax-related matters.
- Administer daily financial operations, working with banking institutions and internal stakeholders to optimize cash flow strategies.
- Participate in special assignments as needed by the organization.
- Support merger and acquisition activities, including integration efforts.
- Manage third-party payroll billing, tax filings in coordination with the payroll service provider, and assist with payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with all legal guidelines, company policies, and procedures.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- 7-10+ years of solid experience in general accounting.
- Strong understanding of business operations and a curious mindset.
- Ability to build relationships and meet deadlines.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting operations.
- Growth-oriented with M&A experience as a plus.
- Skilled in managing the ledger and executing month-end and year-end financial procedures.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to maintain professional and effective communication with colleagues and superiors.
- Expertise in MS Excel, including the use of VLOOKUP.
- A keen eye for detail and precision in all tasks.
- Commitment to an onsite role with flexibility.
