We are seeking an extremely detail-oriented, upbeat person to join SIG, an Alera Group Company's team, as an Employee Benefits Open Enrollment & Compliance Specialist.

As a Specialist specializing in supporting both Fully-Insured and Self-Insured Groups, you will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering the information to be presented during Open Enrollment meetings in the Mid Atlantic area (primarily the Baltimore/Washington corridor). In addition, you will support compliance education and training within the Alera Baltimore office(s). Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate closely with clients and the team to understand their unique Open Enrollment communication needs and methods and stay abreast of regulatory and compliance changes within our industry that impact clients. Leveraging your communication skills and compliance expertise in employee benefits, insurance products, and overall industry knowledge.


  • Attend weekly team meetings
  • Working with our internal Client Communications to develop and deliver clear, concise communication materials, including benefit summaries, enrollment guides, and educational seminars, to help employees understand their benefit options and make informed decisions. This will include:
    • Scheduling Open Enrollment meeting (Zoom, MS Teams) invite as well as in-person meetings.
    • Creating Open Enrollment presentations
    • Confirming marketing materials: custom applications, payroll sheet, wellness forms
    • Coordinating printing materials
    • Recording ‘BrainShark’ or live presentation
  • Compliance:
    • Schedule annual compliance calls
    • Stay abreast of relevant federal and state regulations, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA, and ensure the Account Management teams have a technical resource upon demand.
    • Creating and reviewing Wrap documents.
  • Maintaining necessary CE credit limit to ensure appropriate life & health license is kept active

Continuous Improvement: collaborate regionally as well as nationally to improve the overall effectiveness of Open Enrollment process and Compliance Education.


  • Great interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with strong comprehension and self-motivated execution of detailed instructions
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Experience in an office/admin environment with previous work in the healthcare industry preferred. Experience in delivering presentations to clients / teams.
  • Solid understanding of insurance products and benefit plan designs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams
  • Experience providing high quality customer service including enrollment/termination issues, claims, benefits administration, and billing issues is highly preferred
  • Active learner and user of new software
  • Skilled at performing data entry
  • Experience: 2 or more years of comparable experience.
