The Construction Accountant will manage monthly Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Client Billing processes. This role requires precise attention to detail, strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to work within multiple systems. The project accountant reports to the Director of Finance and supports internal and external customers.Manages accounts payable, invoice preparation, project metric tracking, and assists in month-end closing activities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Possess an expertise in the QuickBooks Accounts Payable, Billing, & Accounts Receivable modules

Possess an understanding in job cost, work in progress, and revenue recognition principles

Manage accounts payable process including invoice entry and release of liens

Manage monthly client billing including client change orders, updating project metrics and identifying areas of concern.

Assist with monthly closing processes including credit card and bank reconciliations

Develop and maintain a high level of customer service

Develop and maintain a high level of trust with leadership team, project managers, superintendent, owners & employees by timely responding to inquiries

Maintain discretion and confidentiality of Company and client information

Seek out, identify, and suggests cost saving opportunities

Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of internal controls for purposes of safeguarding company assets as well as providing accurate and efficient information

Additional duties: due to the cyclical nature of the billing cycle, other duties will be assigned based on employees interest and department needs, of which may change from time to time

Qualifications and Skills

Associates or bachelors degree in accounting or finance

2-3 years minimum accounting experience construction industry preferred

Solid foundation and proficiency in Quickbooks

Experience with ProCore a plus

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail

Excellent analytical skills

Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills

Ability to work with discretion and confidentiality of sensitive data

Work independently as well as part of a team

Work under pressure in meeting tight deadlines

Self-reliant and resourceful in problem solving

Flexible hours, 20 hours per week.
