Medical Office RN in the OBGYN department in Norwalk, CT

Full time, 40 hours per week Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts between 8:30am-5:00pm. 

 

Summary:

To assist the physicians or APPs in providing medical care to the patients of the office practice. Population served based on scope of services in the department.   Assists by working directly with patients to offer timely coordination of care, consistent support, education regarding care plans and treatment options, and assistance coordinating and scheduling tests and appointments.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepares materials, supplies, equipment and the patient to assist the physician or the physician assistant with the patient's medical exam

2. Obtains the patients history and basic medical data such as vital signs, temperature, height and weight, vision and chief complaint

3. Provides direct patient care, such assisting with gynecological exams and procedures, wound care and suture removal.

4. Collects, prepares and analyzes patient specimens as directed by the physician or physician assistant.

5. Instructs the patient and family on how to perform physician recommended preventive care, take prescribed medication, prepare for tests, monitor treatment progress and note symptom changes.

6. Triages all clinical issues and communicate appropriately with providers

7. Contacts the patient by telephone to provide requested follow-up, advise them of test results or relay a physician's instructions. 

8. Communicates with patients and the care team members to identify barriers to care (transportation, unemployment, childcare, etc.), to help facilitate patient care, and to set goals for care based on each patient�s identified needs

9. Tracks and orders medical supplies for the office

10. Performs organizational responsibilities to achieve the Practices' and NHMP missions through a process of total quality improvement.

11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

12. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

13. Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Foundational Values (Personal, Imaginative, Agile, Connected).

14. Performs other duties as required. 

Other Information:

Previous experience in gynecologic or surgical practices preferred.

Medical knowledge and terminology. Computer skills/data entry (including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.) Knowledge of insurance contracts and requirements.

Requirement: CT RN License
