Summary:

Sendero Provisions Co. is seeking an energetic and well-connected Community Manager to strengthen our presence and engagement within the alternative sports world, with a primary focus on surf and snow communities. This role will involve building relationships with key figures in alternative sports, managing Sendero’s brand representation at events, and supporting initiatives through creative content planning and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of alternative sports culture and a passion for connecting with surf, snow, and outdoor adventure audiences.


As a Community Manager, you will be essential to Sendero’s brand marketing goals, working to increase visibility and brand affinity within the alternative sports market, while also helping to support retail and wholesale partnerships. Significant and frequent travel will be required to attend industry events, competitions, and gatherings across surf, snow, and other alternative sports.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Development and Relationship Building:

  • Cultivate and expand Sendero’s network within alternative sports communities, focusing on relationships with surf and snow athletes, influencers, and retail partners.
  • Represent Sendero at key events, including surf competitions, snow festivals, and alternative sports gatherings, to build community ties and promote the brand authentically.
  • Serve as Sendero’s primary point of contact in the alt sports community, fostering connections and developing brand-aligned partnerships.


Event Planning and Brand Representation:

  • Facilitate, organize, plan, and execute alt sports-themed events, sponsorships, and activations from start to finish, ensuring each event resonates with the target audience and aligns with Sendero’s values.
  • Attend and coordinate Sendero’s brand presence at relevant retail store launches, industry trade shows, and community gatherings to boost visibility and engage with alternative sports audiences directly.
  • Collaborate with the Brand Director to identify and pursue new event opportunities and partnerships that align with Sendero’s mission.


Content Planning and Campaign Support:

  • Develop and coordinate content strategies for Sendero’s alt sports initiatives, working with internal teams to ensure promotional efforts resonate with surf, snow, and broader alt sports communities.
  • Plan and schedule content to promote alt sports events, partnerships, and products, collaborating with Social Media Managers and Art & Media Director for campaign execution.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of alt sports-related content, providing insights and recommendations to optimize reach and engagement.


Social Media and Community Engagement:

  • Engage actively with the alt sports community on social media platforms, ensuring timely, brand-aligned responses to comments, messages, and interactions.
  • Participate in online alt sports communities and forums, particularly within surf and snow, to foster Sendero’s presence and engage authentically.
  • Work with Social Media Managers to ensure consistency in the brand message across all alt sports-focused content and interactions.


Industry Awareness and Trend Monitoring:

  • Stay updated on trends, news, and developments within the surf, snow, and alternative sports industries to ensure Sendero’s community activities are relevant and impactful.
  • Provide insights on industry trends to the Brand Director, offering recommendations to enhance Sendero’s engagement with the alt sports community.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with the marketing and product teams to coordinate promotional campaigns, product launches, and other brand initiatives aligned with alt sports.
  • Support the Wholesale and Sales teams by providing insights from the alt sports community to shape product offerings and retail strategies.
  • Maintain flexibility to manage communication needs outside of typical business hours, ensuring Sendero’s presence and engagement across time zones and event schedules.



QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in community management, brand representation, or a related role within surf, snow, or alternative sports industries.
  • Established connections within the alternative sports community, with a focus on surf and snow, and experience building and nurturing relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to authentically represent the Sendero brand.
  • Experience in event planning and brand representation, with the ability to manage on-site activations and develop relationships at events.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently, with a passion for community building.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to attend key industry events and engage with the alt sports community as needed.



Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of social media engagement strategies specific to surf, snow, and alternative sports communities.
  • Ability to identify and analyze trends within the alternative sports industry to keep community engagement fresh and relevant.
