Senior Director of Business Development

Cogent Scientific, an insourced contract research organization in the Life Science industry, is looking for the right people to accomplish our Mission: to partner in the global effort to improve lives through innovative science with an experienced workforce. As we continue to expand our footprint in the Midwest, Mountain Region, and West Coast, we have opened a Senior Director of Business Development opportunity to focus on cultivating insourcing scientific solutions for new clients.
This position would be responsible for building a deep understanding of each client’s business environment as well as the constantly changing business trends in the life science industry. A successful candidate would be one who would bring their own life science background and relationships to add to Cogent’s connections while being agile enough to grow, develop, and lead a vertically integrated business development unit. Fostering relationships with new partners would be essential to be successful in this position, so impeccable communication skills – both verbal and written – are a must. Flexibility would be required, as working with clients in different parts of the country is expected. This position would require a responsive candidate who can support and manage all aspects of business development, including lead identification, contract negotiations, pricing calculations, and ongoing client support.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Life Science related field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) with 5+ years of customer-facing sales experience. In lieu of this requirement, candidates with degrees in other fields and/or experience in sales in the life science industry will also be considered. An entrepreneurial drive would also be essential while meeting and exceeding business development goals and client expectations.
